Washington, Dec. 7, 2016 – David Grimaldi of the Interactive Advertising Bureau and Adonis Hoffman of Business in the Public Interest were elected to the Board of Trustees of The Media Institute at the board’s annual meeting today in Washington.

Mike Regan, long-time member of the Board of Trustees, was elected chairman of the Board’s Executive Committee.   

Grimaldi is Executive Vice President for Public Policy at the Interactive Advertising Bureau.  He manages IAB’s Washington office and oversees the staff and strategy of IAB’s policy and international teams, as well as its Technology Lab and education foundation.  Grimaldi came to IAB from Pandora Media, where he served as its Director of Public Affairs.  He opened Pandora’s D.C. office in May 2014.

In previous positions, Grimaldi served as chief of staff to FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn; senior counsel to House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn of the U.S. House of Representatives; principal of The Raben Group; and legislative counsel to Rep. Ed Towns (N.Y.-10).

Hoffman is chairman of Business in the Public Interest and director of Ad Hoc Holdings, Inc.  He is co-chair of the Advisory Council at Nielsen Media, adjunct professor at Georgetown University, and a member of the First Amendment Advisory Council of The Media Institute. 

Hoffman’s career includes senior legal and policy appointments in the U.S. House of Representatives and the FCC, and leadership positions at the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.  His work in constitutional and electoral reform took him to 30 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.  He is the author of Doing Good – The New Rules of Corporate Responsibility, Conscience and Character

“Dave Grimaldi and Adonis Hoffman are Washington veterans who bring a wealth of experience to The Media Institute,” said Patrick Maines, president of the Institute.

The Media Institute’s Board of Trustees is comprised of representatives from the broadcasting, cable, digital, telecom, and consumer electronics industries, as well as communications attorneys.  The board is chaired by former FCC chairman Richard E.
